11 February, 2019 – Honolulu

What a crazy night of travel to get to Oahu. A major storm from the Northwest caused almost 50 mph winds on Oahu and believe me – 20 feet at least waves all night. What a ride! As we arrive alive in the morning, a rainbow.

The ship pulled into the harbor Pier 2 and our friends met us in the terminal and presented us with beautiful leis. Then we walked to their car and we were able to take a great picture of our ship.

We stopped at a post office to mail a package and then drove out to the Disney Aulani Resort. After a walk along the beach and we lunch at Ama Ama – Delicious! A stop at our friend’s home near by for some yummy mochi (like a bun with ice cream in the center) and freshly baked cookies. We enjoyed our conversations, catching up since last August and comparing travel notes on places they have been, that we are heading to and national parks they are visiting later this year in the States.

Thanks for a wonderful visit!

After they dropped us off by the Aloha Clock Tower, we explored the downtown area. A stop at the Iolani Palace and statue of the last King, then to the nearby judicial building and the Protestant church. A rain storm rolled in on our walk back to the ship – so unusual for Honolulu – like the last time we were here for Hurricane Lane!

Now back on the ship and ready to head towards Apia, Samoa – 4 days at Sea. Thank goodness, the Captain announces, no more weather like last night! It was a great day to be on land!
